Weylin took a drag from his cigarette, pondering what had become of his life. A week ago he had been freely roaming the streets, doing whatever he pleased. Now here he was, home at six in the evening, making dinner. Not that he had much to show for it. The source of his frustrations was currently curled up on his couch napping, oblivious to his hard work.

It was partially his own fault, he mused. But saving her from some street thugs and handing her some cash hadn’t been an open invitation for her to come live with him.

Still, he supposed, as the balcony door slid open and Mei stood there wrapped up in her blanket-- maybe things had turned for the better.

Because even though she was a hassle to take care of, her companionship was a comfort he’d never known... beause when she was there, he was no longer alone in the world.

Satisfied, he put out his cigarette and followed her inside.
